How to Make Deodorant

Making your own deodorant is be a fun and inexpensive project, that allows you to create a product free of harsh chemicals and preservatives. You might not believe that making deodorant could be simpler than going out to buy a store-bought version, but by using some common household ingredients, you can have stick of homemade deodorant in no time. Read on to learn how to make deodorant.
Instructions

• Mix the baking soda, petroleum jelly and talcum powder.
• Heat the mixture in a double boiler, over low heat.
• Stir the mixture while it is heating. You will know it is finished when a smooth cream starts to form.
• Put the cream in a small container with a very tight lid.
• Use as you would use store-bought deodorant.

Tips

• To make spray deodorant, mix 2 tbsp. of alum in 1 pint of warm water and stir. Add a small amount of cologne, perfume or aftershave and put it in a spray bottle. Alum can be purchased at most drugstores.
• Get creative and make up a brand name for your deodorant. Get even more creative and invent a logo, print it on a label along with your brand name and stick it on the bottle or container of deodorant.
